Tuesday also blah

I woke up feeling even worse today. Did NOT want to come in to work. Thing is, lots of work to be done today, so I dragged myself in.

Managed to get the important work out of the way, but I think I'll leave early and work from home the rest of the afternoon. I'm knackered!

Last night, I picked up my copy of Cursed Child again, but had to reread it from the start, as I'd lost track of what was going on. It's an easy enough read, but it's a bit odd reading a script; I'd much rather have watched it on stage. What threw me off as well was that there aren't classic stage directions in it; when I read a script, I expect stage directions! There was also a fair bit of interpretations of actions. I don't quite know how to explain it without actually quoting it (and therefore potentially spoilering. Then again, it's been three and a half months...I guess spoilering it is fine?), but it just felt like an amateurish script. It was very reminiscent of the works that my classmates and I did for our literature and drama projects back in school.

That said, I did love the story, and I really do have to watch it on stage some time! The London production's pretty much fully booked well into next year, so I'll just have to wait and see.

So yes, I kept up my end of the pact...Nekowife hasn't finished it yet - she's only got about 10 hours to go before the deadline is up!

~~~
I'm halfway through the second season of Gilmore Girls. I think I have 117 episodes to go. Each episode is approximately 40 minutes long. So that would be about 4680 minutes worth, which is 78 hours. Which is 3.25 days.
See kids? Maths is useful; stay in school.
Yeah, I'm not going to finish watching all of them before the revival episodes are released. But believe you me, I'm going to make a valiant effort! I'll keep you updated on my progress.
In the meantime, I might have to succumb to my humanness and actually get some sleep during the week.
~~
I just realised that I don't actually have a tag for Harry Potter. I shall rectify that immediately.
Saturday - the day of Pre-Rest
What a slooow day today. Lazy weekends are the best.
Spent pretty much the whole day just vegging out and watching Gilmore Girls. I've just finished Season 1, and I gotta say, it's really interesting watching this from an adult perspective.
I never quite got into this show, not like Misstsy did - she absolutely loves it - but it's nice to revisit it anyway. Like I said though, it's interesting!
Also, baby!Jared Padalecki is adorable.
Did I mention this earlier? I think I did. I'm trying to finish watching all of it before the revival on the 25th. That leaves me...ack, only two weeks to go! What makes it tricky is that I can't get Netflix in my room, so I have to hang out in the living room, which means that I'm also at the disposal of the family, which means lots of interruptions.
I'm also coming down with something - I might just have caught a cold from BabyGirl and Ma. Hopefully I can kick it soon!
Nothing much else to say, I gotta get back to tv-binging now anyway.
Wasn't Friday just five minutes ago?!
Wow, I must've blinked. Where did the weekend go?
...oh yeah, family and tv binging. With a couple naps thrown in for good measure.
I'm all caught up on Criminal Minds now. Thing about not watching it for so long, with a memory like mine, it takes ages to recall what the callbacks refer to.
As I mentioned earlier, not having Hotch around is going to take some getting used to. He seemed to be such a staple of the series from the get go. Such a shame, really. But perhaps not all is lost? After all, both Paget Brewster and AJ Cook are back...so I'm going to wait and see what happens with Thomas Gibson.
It's horrible and brilliant how Criminal Minds really messes with the mind and preys on phobias.
Child abduction, being burnt to death, drowning..in concrete, which is pretty much being buried alive...ugh. Terrifying.
It's so weird watching something as gritty as Criminal Minds, and then following that up with something as annoying ridiculous as Hawaii Five-0. I mean, seriously. Why even do I still watch that crap? It's so annoying how McGarrett is the superhero stuntman who saves the day every day...and that Danno is just the buttmonkey who does nothing but nag and be unreasonable. It's getting more unbearable, as Danno isn't showing up as much.
The second episode of this season (7, in case anyone's interested...) really irked me. As if this show isn't racist enough, they have to play the whole "bomber = Muslim" card. Ugh.
I endured the next couple eps, and it was somewhat redeemed in the fifth episode. Interesting that in a show about cops and guns and improbably shootouts, they brought up the hot topic of gun control. And interestingly enough, it sounded almost as though the writers were actually for tighter restrictions. That one was followed by the Halloween episode, which...was actually not too bad! I was getting irritated at the start, thinking that they might actually pull in the whole supernatural element, but thankfully, they did have a proper scientific (well, as scientific as this show can possibly get) explanation for it all.
Why do I still watch this show even though every single episode irritates me? I have no earthly clue.
I'm also almost all caught up with Suits. Only two episodes to go. I'm not sure I like where it's going, and I wonder if it's going to get renewed. Would be interesting to see how they write it from this point forward, seeing as how the original premise is pretty much dead.
I'm going to have to catch up with Supernatural too. Kay's coming over in a few weeks for a Supernatural Season 5 rewatch marathon, and if I'm to fangirl and fan-argue with her, I'm going to need to be all up to date.
I'm also trying to binge rewatch all of Gilmore Girls before the revival, which leaves me 19 days. According to Binge Clock, Gilmore Girls will take up a total of 6 days and 9 hours. But since I'm Netflixing it, therefore skipping all the commercials, it will only take 4 days, 16 hours and 12 minutes. No problem, right? Unfortunately, that 19 days also includes boring things like sleeping and working and family stuff... But hey. Challenge accepted!
Too much TV to watch...too little time to do it in...
Well-deserved Weekend
Finally. It's the weekend. This week was more exhausting than usual, even though it was a 4-day weekend. I was just incredibly busy, and running on fumes and caffeine.
Last night was a riot. Sis!S made an amazing chocolate cake for Cola's 4th birthday.
I'm not sure which part of the cake I liked best
Having the family over is always a good time. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a very sociable mood, and I mostly hung out in my room with Godson. I ended up falling asleep, of course!
Today was a pretty quiet day. Looked after BabyGirl mostly - the poor darling is under the weather, I'm afraid. Terrible runny nose all day. She's all tucked up in bed now; I do hope she sleeps well and wakes up feeling better tomorrow.
Other than that, I caught up on some Criminal Minds. It's odd now, that the main characters are changing. Thomas Gibson, aka Aaron Hotchner is no longer part of the cast, which is rather strange. He was there right from the start!
Hawaii Five-0 is even more annoying and racist than usual. Not sure I can keep watching this garbage...I can feel my brain cells dying off!
Need to start running again soon. Now that I've lost a fair bit of weight, my knee and my back rarely hurt the way they used to, and on the rare occasions that my back aches, it's not nearly as bad as it once was. Although I did do something weird to my right ankle; it's giving off these odd twinges now and again.
Ah, mysterious aches and pains. Symptom of aging, really.
Allrighty then. I'd best go upstairs and keep BabyGirl company.
Thanks to Sis!S, I now have an hankering for a Kit Kat...
Oops I did it again!
I napped yesterday evening for about 3 hours...and then didn't sleep all night again. Today was an extremely long day! But at least it was a pretty busy day.
And omg! The World Series! (which only has one participating country, hmm...)
I was listening to the game live, and following along on twitter. What a game! History really was made today. What an amazing, exciting, heartstopping game! I'm not a Cubs fan at all... I root for their rivals! But I'm pretty happy for the Cubbies; it really was a great season for them.
And my ex-colleague (who I blognamed PoptartBoss) is a huge Cubs fan, he's 71, and had given up hope of seeing the Cubs clinch the title. I'm so glad for him!
I also shared the classic Abbott & Costello routine Who's On First with my colleague, Miss Trench. For some reason, I'd mentioned it to her yesterday, and since I was listening to the game, I thought of this routine again, so emailed her the link.
It's hilarious, and I laugh every single time I hear it.
Third base!
I went to Ikea today after work. Meant to get one thing for me, and one thing for Mum. Wandered around Ikea hell for a couple hours...walked out with loads of things. But that one thing I wanted to get for myself? I forgot. Yes, I'm quite the genius, obviously!
Speaking of genius, I think the smart thing to do would be to get some sleep tonight. But as I mentioned to Doof earlier, I am like a camel, only with sleep. I get lots of sleep on the weekend, and barely any during the week.
I'm pretty exhausted now, so I'm going to chill out, watch a couple episodes of...hmm. Supernatural? Suits? Hawaii Five-0? Criminal Minds? I think I'll go with H50 - that's the most mindless and ridiculous of the lot!
I'm finally all caught up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Big Bang Theory. I'll eventually catch up on the rest of my tv addictions. And seeing as how I have a few Fridays off this year, i.e. I have a few long weekends coming up... I might just be able to do the Harry Potter marathon I've been wanting to do for ages! Plus, with Fantastic Beasts coming out, I find myself craving more HP goodness.
But yeah, as exhausted as I am, I can't turn in until I've gotten BabyGirl settled for the night. So in the meantime, I'm going to just veg out for a bit.
Shameful Confession
I just watched an episode of Glee. Well, parts of it anyway. It's still inane and annoying and I still hate it.
So why did I put myself through this autotuned torture?
Two words: Matt Bomer.
What a beautiful man.
It Was His Sled
I was so looking forward to tonight, where I could unwind and watch the season finale of White Collar. Considered eating at my desk during lunch, so I could stream it, but decided to go socialise instead.
One of the first things I do after returning from lunch? Skim through a few blogs. One of which almost always contains spoilers.
I now know how White Collar ends, which totally takes away the fun of watching it. Another one of my genius moments.
New Year, New TV Seasons!
I pointed you at the White Collar promo trailer a few days ago, now have a sneak peek at the new season!
Also, Sherlock's back on New Year's Day! Here's a look at two clips from the first episode. It's out of order though....sheets are before matches. But omg, sheets!
Two of the most beautiful men in the world, back on my screen in January.
But What's In The Barn?
Don't Dead Open Inside? That doesn't even make sense!
Someone asked me what I think of this season's Walking Dead. Well...so far so good. I haven't given up on it yet. Without being too spoilerific*, here's what I think of it so far.
One-Expression Lori is annoying me. I hope her bug eyes get eaten by a Walker. And really, it takes longer than a second to do what she did at the end of Ep 4 (Cherokee Rose). Come on.
She's so annoying, but she's one step behind Whatsherface Sophia's mum, who really needs to grow a backbone. Crying isn't going to solve anything.
Every time Old-Man-In-Hat shows up, I find myself wanting to punch him. His sage worldliness makes me want to turn this show into a drinking game. Whiny-Bitch is only slightly less annoying this season; she's less whiny, but still stupid. Token Black Guy (why is he still alive?) has moved up in the annoying list. Well, his one-liner in Cherokee Rose made me laugh, so I don't dislike him as vehemently as I do OldMan.
What with most of the characters being stupid** and whiny and annoying, one might wonder why I'm still watching it.
Simple. Redeeming features; it has them.
Shane. Oh, Shane. Shane, Shane, Shane. Last season, I wanted to kick you in the gonads. This season, you've proved to actually have gonads. Well done, you. If I were wearing a hat, I'd take it off to you. Original Canon may have killed you off, and at one point, I'd wished AMC!Canon would do the same, but now I'm glad - Pollyanna level of glad - that you're still alive and clearly kicking.
Glenn. Oh, dear, sweet Token Asian former-pizza-delivering Glenn. Awkward, snarky, geeky and gutsy as hell. And in Cherokee Rose, he gets a moment! In the pharmacy! Well, one hopes it was longer than a moment...That trick with the rope was mighty impressive too.
Daryl. Oh, dear, darling, racist, redneck Daryl. I kinda liked you at the start, and now I like you even more. You tell it like it is, and you're the only one in the band who shows any sort of character development at all. I heart you and your sleeveless shirts. Keep on rednecking.
The gore. Oh, the gross, gory gore! This season doesn't have much (as yet), but it looks like quality is beginning to win out over quantity. Loved Ep 3, what with the dude who topped himself and the live bait; Loved even more the dude suffering from water retention in Cherokee Rose.
4 days to go til the next episode, and I'm actually looking forward to it. The first couple episodes almost had me quitting, but I'm glad I stuck it out! Was worried when Frank Darabont was fired, but so far...it's promising. Slow, but promising!
*Several (actually, most) links in this post lead to tv tropes, which may contain spoilers.
I also accept no responsibility for any wikiwalking or archive binging.
**There's so much stupidity going on; I've come to the conclusion that the only reason these characters are still alive is that none of them have any braaaaaains.
Utterly Slashy Antics Network
This is the teaser for Common Law, a new USA network show premiering in January 2012.
What with White CollarPsych, Suits and now this, they might as rename themselves SlashNetwork.
Couples therapy.
TV Rots Your Brain
I love this time of year, when all my favourite tv shows return for a new season, and new ones start airing too. I have stuff to watch pretty much every single day, which isn't necessarily a good thing, because I have so many other (more important!) things to do that have been put on the back burner. But there are just so many good programmes on! And some mediocre, but enjoyable ones too.
American Horror Story
This is a new one, and Cat recommended it, after I was talking on Facebook about the creep factor on The Walking Dead.
3 episodes in, and so far, only the first one really creeped me out. The second one had its moments, but now...I'm just watching to see how the story unfolds. What's creepiest about the whole show is the brief, almost subliminal flashes of...something. That's so psychological; glimpsing something that freaks you out, but not getting a good look at it, not being able to properly identity it. That's what plays on our minds, that's the way our mind plays with us. What helps to reduce the creep factor is turning down the volume. That's right, it's the music that creeps me out the most. And this show doesn't make for the best pre-bedtime watching!
My verdict after 3 episodes:
I'll give it a few more episodes before I stop wasting my time on it.
Chuck
Season was supposed to start last Friday, but it was postponed to this Friday. I'm looking forward to it, but am glad that it's the final season. They've dragged it on for too long, and the plot was getting a little too thin. Perhaps with a bigger budget, they could have pulled out more stops, but special effects can only bring a show so far. I have a feeling that this season might be the best one since season 1. Chuck will meet his final big bad this season, played by Angus Macfadyen, who's also guest starred in Criminal Minds and Psych.
Verdict:
Bring it!
Community
Funny as always. So many pop culture references, it's impossible to catch them all. This is one of the most genre-savvy shows I've watched, and I still love it.
Verdict:
3rd season still going strong, but how long before they graduate?
Criminal Minds
This one's in its 7th season, and while I'm so very glad that the family is back together (JJ, hurrah!), I'm kinda getting bored with it. Doesn't help that I can't marathon it, the way I did the first 5 season - my ADD allows for obsessive viewing, but keeping my attention when I have to wait a whole week? Not so good.
I've always enjoyed this show; the dialogue is good, the character development and interaction have always been interesting. I do like that they're focusing on each member of the team, that each of them gets their time in the limelight, but really, the plots for this season eps? Could we have fewer of the "obscure mental illnesses causes unsub to snap"plot , please?
Verdict:
I'll keep watching, but I'm hoping they pick it up a bit.
How I Met Your Mother
Another show in its 7th season. Barney Stinson is awesome, goes without saying. Everyone else, meh. It's just a pleasant way to pass twenty minutes, really.
Verdict:
Effing tell us who the mother is, already!
Psych
I didn't think much of last season's finale. The ending to the Yin-Yang arc was, in a word, lame.
This season, they seem to have brought back the ingredients that made Psych so lovable to start with.
I'm glad they're not placing too much emphasis on the Shawn/Juliet, but I suspect that might change. I do hope not though.
Verdict:
Shawn and Gus are the crime-solving duo that will continue to entertain me.
QI
How do I love this show? Let me count the ways. Stephen Fry in all his delightful geeky genius, how he gets excited over the nerdiest things. Alan Davies and his self-deprecating adokableness. The questions that make me question. The General Ignorance segment. The savvy contestants who try not to answer with the obvious, but unwittingly set off the klaxxon.
In its 9th series, now on the letter I. Still intelligent, inane, irreverent, insane, irresistible and of course, quite, quite interesting.
Verdict:
Isn't it obvious? I love this show! It makes Mondays easier to bear, knowing I have a new episode of QI waiting!
The Big Bang Theory
Season 5, and it's still quite watchable. I still don't get a lot of the nerdier jokes, but what I do get, I love. I'm glad the Leonard/Penny is over; that just annoyed me. It's still witty and amusing, it's only 20 minutes long, and the rapport between the characters is great.
Verdict:
My geeky little heart still adores this one. And Sheldon.
The Walking Dead
It's in the second season, just been renewed for a third, and it had better bring it. Several of the characters are grating on me, and some parts are just really really annoying. It's veered away from the comics, which I don't particularly care about, but it's kinda getting slow and annoying. And really, could Lori please get another facial expression? Bug-eyed horror is old.
I did like the way the 2nd episode ended. Now I HAVE to watch the 3rd ep to find out how they get out of that one!
Verdict:
I'll keep watching it, but I'm not sure how much I'm going to enjoy it.
To round up the number of shows mentioned to ten, here's one that's been going on for years and years, and I've finally decided to start watching.
Doctor Who
Doctor who? Doctor the Ninth, that's where I've started.  I'm only one episode in, and I love it already. Christopher Eccleston is brilliant. And and Billie Piper! I want a TARDIS of my own.
And I have David Tennant to look forward to!
Verdict:
OMG. Love it. LOVE IT. And I have SO MANY EPISODES to get through! Who needs sleep? I have Doctor Who!
Marry/Shag/Cliff
The rules:
1) Comment to this and (if you want) I will give you 3 (fictional) people.
2) Post this meme to your LJ with your answers.
3) Provide pictures/text descriptions and the names of the 3 people.
4) Label whom you would shag, marry and (push off a) cliff.
LJ user Oshunanat gave me:
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)
[Señor] Ben Chang (Community)
Jim Moriarty (BBC Sherlock)
Oshun wanted to issue a challenge (hers were far too easy), and a challenge it was! I really had to consider this for a while. But here goes.
Marry: Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper, B.S., M.S., M.A., Ph.D., Sc.D
Physically speaking, he's my 'type': tall, skinny, adorkable. We have quite a fair bit in common too, except that he takes my quirks and amps them up to 11. I'm smart, he's a genius; I have OCPD, he takes OCD to new extremes; I'm a bit of a geek, he's the über geek; I have mild obsessions, he reinvents the term; we're both smug and arrogant and full of disdain for others. He'll know better than to mess with my systems, and I'll understand not to mess with his.
Sure, he's annoying enough to make one want to push him off a cliff, but at least he'll keep things interesting. Also, I know we wouldn't have a sex life, but if anyone can build a sex toy robot, it's my Shelly. Plus, he'd easily solve all my computer problems. Win!
Shag: Jim Moriarty
Come on. Man looks great in a suit. He's so changeable, which would make for some exciting sex, I reckon. Check out his o-faces! He's not quite my type physically, but hey, that's what doggy style is for. Besides, he's Irish, and doesn't everyone want to have some Irish in them?
I admit, I did consider pushing him off a cliff, but hey. That's Sherlock's job. Cliff, waterfall, whatever. Besides, I'd much rather...
Cliff: Ben Chang
Dude's an annoying psychotic creep. He needs serious psychiatric help, which neither of us can afford. So really, I'll be doing him and the entire world a favour.
Bazinga!
Random Crush
Watching Whose Line Is It Anyway? right now; I'm up to Season 4. I've rediscovered that I really fancy Jeff Davis. He's just lovely, isn't he?
Anyway. I skip over entire episodes if one of the actors is female. I just don't find them very funny. Honestly, I think they're actually quite annoying. Which reminds me of what my Bro-In-Law once said. that female comedians aren't as funny, because it's tough to be funny and hot at the same time. Sexist, but there's a grain of truth in that! (I might just blog one day about feminism and comedy. Thoughts, I has them.)
I gotta get my hands on the UK version. That one's brilliant. Sadly, it doesn't have Jeff in it. And on that note, I am off to bed. One-day weekends are just way too short.
Downtime
Enjoying some downtime at home with some Criminal Minds.
Sadly, downtime has turned into down time. As in...really darn depressing. I knew what was coming in this episode. I knew a certain character was being written off. But daaaaamn, it's a helluva lot sadder than I'd thought it would be.
I get way too attached to fictional characters.
Then again, with my attention span? I'd never get hooked on a tv series if I'm not drawn to the characters. Heck, I can't even pay attention to a book or a movie if I don't care for the characters at all.
I'm going to watch one more episode, and then I'll go to bed. Well...I'll see how it is. If I'm still this sad after the next episode, I'm tuning in to classic Nick to cheer me up. Or maybe I should just go to bed now...I'm plumb tuckered out, and I could use some shuteye.
I'll see how interesting the first few minutes of the next ep are.
Oh, and VLC on a mac? Totally different shortcuts. Which is annoying, because I'm so used to the old ones.
Chuck Me!
Watched this week's episode of Chuck. So many shout-outs in this episode; I'm not going to list them here. But wow, SO MANY SHOUT-OUTS.
Five Not-Really-Spoilery Things about Chuck vs Phase Three:
  1. The accents. OMG the accents. Funny how the stereotypical Chinese looks and sounds just like the stereotypical Thai!
  2. The giant, blonde shemale!
  3. Casey: Nothing here but scoundrels, assassins and warlords. Scum of the earth!
    Lady: Ah, Mr. Casey! The usual?
  4. Gratuitous pouring-water-over-self scene by Sarah! Hawt!
  5. Last time I checked? There's no 'j' in "I'm here". Honestly.
Next week's episode is directed by Zachary Levi. Looking forward to it!
Tellyism
Well, that's it. I'm done with the week's worth of TV shows. Just watched two episodes of Community and one of Misfits back to back. I've started watching a bit of The Walking Dead, but I think I'll wait til I actually have time to sit and watch the whole thing through.
I've also finally started watching The Office. How has it taken me so long to watch it? It's hilarious! I've been watching it on my phone, while on the bus. I find myself having to hold back my laughter. I probably do get looks, on account of my sudden grins and shaking shoulders.
Oooh, I do have another season to watch. I do already know what happens in it, but hey. Martin Freeman! The more I see of him, the more I think he's just adorable. Would I have felt the same if I hadn't been so hooked on Sherlock? Quite possibly.
Hmm, it just hit me that one show has been taken off my list - Weeds has completed this season. But in a couple months, White Collar  returns!
Gosh. I really am such a telly addict, aren't I? But hey, the shows I watch? Quality. (Yes. Even Nickelodeon shows, such as iCarly. It's actually pretty clever!)
I leave you now with a video that Shoes linked to me. She said that Mr. Shoes described it as "lounge music for kids". Well, I guess I'm a bit of a Peter Pannette, for I love it. I heart the music, and I heart the mix so very much. It's given me a longing for classic Disney movies, and I shall obtain them. But for now...the video. Which I've watched and listened to several times, and love it even more each time.
I like it as much as (and possibly more than!) the Mary Poppins one, which I saw ages ago. And that's saying something.
Midweek Break
Oh man, do I really have to do this? I'm tired, and I'd totally forgotten about writing until now.
Alright, that's a lie. I did remember earlier today, several times in fact, but just kept putting it off.
And now it's bedtime, I still haven't prepared my lunch/dinner for tomorrow, and I'm bloody knackered.
Today was a brilliant day, actually. I woke up at 6, shut my alarm off, and went back to sleep. Oh, glorious sleep-ins! I finally woke up at 10! Actually, I kinda woke up before that, but I was drifting in and out, and was engaging in some rather fun, albeit weird lucid dreaming.
Of course, waking up so late does have its consequences. I had breakfast only at 11, which meant that lunch was at 4, and dinner was at 9.30. Oh, and all three of my meals today were lovely! It's great being home, really; I had time to prepare all my meals properly. Breakfast was a tomato and onion omelette. Lunch was...wow, lunch was actually really good. Grilled orange chicken on salad. So simple, so satisfying. Dinner...well, I surprise myself sometimes. I cooked fish! Fish that wasn't salmon! For those of you who know me well...you're probably surprised too, if not a little impressed.
Here's the cheating bit: I bought a ready-filleted piece from the supermarket. You know, the kind that has no head and no tail and therefore doesn't really look like fish. I can deal with that! But anyway. Baked it with a bit of garlic and thyme and it was tastier than I'd thought!
I see how this is going to be a lifestyle change. I have to wake up earlier to have time for a proper breakfast, then I've started planning and cooking my own meals, and then I've been (and this is the biggest shocker) going to bed before midnight!
I'll tell you this though: today was tough. I'd much rather be in the office - at least there, I'm busy, and not surrounded by food. Today? Grandmum came over. 'Nuff said, really.
I was bored, and there was all this FOOD. Nan made pancakes; there was ice cream and lingonberry jam to go with it. There were mumcooked jemput-jemput (banana fritters for the non-Singaporean lot of you). There was.....so much more, but I refused to sit at the table.
Ugh. Today was a day of temptation; I'm almost glad to be going back to work tomorrow. Almost, but not quite.
BabyNeal came over today (well, his parents did too, but BabyNeal is the one who has me all smitten!) and he is just so adorable. Love him to BITS. He's just so clever and charming and cuter than a button. Which isn't difficult; I've never found buttons all that cute.
Oh! And latest ep of Chuck? CLIFFHANGER LIKE WHOA. (Neko: wahahaa, hangover!)
Season finale of Weeds? CLIFFHANGER LIKE WHOA.
Thank goodness for HIMYM. Simple, but clever humour. WITH NO CLIFFHANGERS KTHX.
I leave you with my favourite Barney Stinson quote of the week:
Barney: You need to be like.. you are the weakest link, goodbye! Punchy, the tribe has spoken. Please pack up your knives and go. Your work of art didn’t work for us. Your time’s up! I have to ask you to leave the mansion. You must leave the chateau. Your tour ends here. You’ve been chopped!
Ted: Ok, yeah, I know...
Barney: You’ve been evicted from the Big Brother house. Your dessert just didn’t measure up. Sashay away! Give me your jacket, and leave Hell’s Kitchen! I’m sorry, you did not get a rose. You have been eliminated from the race. You are no longer in the running to be America’s Next Top Model. You’re fired! Auf Wiedersehen.
Bah.
Sometimes it's tough to keep a positive outlook, on days that are just wrong wrong wrong. I've been grumpy for the past couple days, as Neko can attest. I couldn't think why I was so moody for no apparent reason, until I got an email reminding me of Aunt Flo's impending visit. It's not like I overly mind having Aunt Flo drop by; it's just that she gets a bit annoying at times, and affects my mood rather more than I'd like.
Didn't help that today was just a...not-quite-fantastic day. I texted a couple of my friends yesterday, asking if they wanted to meet up for dinner tonight. They both said they'll get back to me today. Neither of them did. And honestly, I'm not going to bother to call/text to ask them again, if they can't be bothered to send me a simple text to say they can't make it.
Work didn't go too well today either, and I was just an emotional wreck at the end of the day. It's odd that these days, I don't cry when I'm sad, but when I'm frustrated, I do.
Mum wasn't in the best mood either, and sometimes I worry about her. But we haven't yet arrived at the stage where she pours out troubles to me, and I'm usually at a loss as to how to deal with anything emotional. So we just left it...but I did try to make her laugh a bit. And I'm quite glad that she did seem to cheer up a bit.
The evening picked up a bit though. I pretty much just cocooned myself in my shell the whole evening, watching TV shows.
Psych is back! After their mid-season hiatus, that is. It's good to see the show again, always lots of laughs to be had. And this week's episode had Cary Elwes guest starring! Always win.
Misfits is back! Their second series opener was this week, and it was brilliant! I definitely cheered up after watching it, what with Nathan's lines. So many great lines that I can't pick my favourite. I have decided against using "monkeyslut" as my password. Everyone knows it!
Also watched a couple episodes of Community. Their Halloween episode "Epidemiology" (caution: spoilers) is one of my favourites now. Zombies! It's such a genre-savvy show, and it's just so cleverly written.
So yes, that's how I spent my day. Being grumpy at work, then being grumpy at home.
Once in a while, I have my off days. And that's okay.
