Met up with Sof today for dinner. Wasn't sure our plans were still on...that woman is worse than me when it comes to replying to texts!
For some odd reason, Sof suggested meeting at ION. So we did.
Then she admitted that she wasn't quite sure why she suggested that place - it was far too crowded for either of our tastes!
Ended up going to Wheelock Place. And as is the case with Sof and I, we ended up at a standard place for both of us - Cedele. Hey, keeping it simple. It was either that, or sushi.
I figured I'd peruse the menu only to end up ordering the same thing I always get - to my surprised, I actually tried something new!
Always brilliant catching up with Sof. And we even made tentative plans to meet up in a couple weeks, before she goes off on her end-of-year hols. It's a long-running joke between us that our annual quota for meeting up is once a year, and this year, we've far surpassed it! I think this was the third, maybe fourth time we've met up this year. How shocking
Ah, 'tis brilliant to have such wonderful friends.
Also, I'm really, really full now.

Sláinte!
I made several concessions to St. Patrick's Day yesterday...
- I wore a green t-shirt to work
- I wore a green top, green earrings, green bangles and green sandals
- I had a pint of Guinness.
Met up with Misstsy at Timbre, where we just had dinner and a glass of wine. Neither of us were feeling up to doing anything big; she's at the tail end of a cold, and I'm just getting old. And I'd been at work all day. And I'm getting too old for shite like getting wasted just because someone declared a day of drinking in honour of the Irish.
We made our way to Molly Malone's after dinner, and it was just overflowing with people, as I'd expected. Decided to have coffee at TCC first; we needed airconditioning, and Misstsy needed a tea to sooth her throat. Still making concessions for the day, Misstsy had a green tea, and I had a cold Baileys coffee concoction, which was just lovely. And THEN we had our requisite Guinness at Molly's.
All in all, that's more than I've done for St. Patrick's Day in years, so I'm happy.
Next year, I might round up the girls and do the Party Bus. Because...well, why not?
Got home at about 3am, and by the time I was done chatting with Mum and showering, it was well past 4. Good thing today's Lazy Sunday!

Work on Saturday
Not a fan of coming in to the office on Saturdays, but a girl's gots to do what a girl's gots to do!
Met up with Tink and TehTarik last night. Was good to see TehTarik again, and her boy's simply gorgeous! Went for Japanese food at Restaurant Hoshigaoka. The food was pretty good! Would have liked a wider selection of sushi, and was disappointed that they were out of hamachi, but overall, it was a great dining experience. The food was good, the wagyu shabu-shabu was delicious, as was the green tea, the service was excellent (which is becoming so rare these days!), and the prices reasonable. Of course, the company definitely made it a great evening!
And just like that, I complete one item from my Day Zero Project list - treating my girls to dinner, and start on another item - eating at a restaurant I've never been to.
Walked around a bit, then decided to bus it home. I'd forgotten how LONG the bus journey is from there! But I had my music and my book, so I was good to go.
Stayed up late chatting, and didn't get to sleep until about 4am. Needless to say, I woke up late for work this morning. Now I have a headache and am dehydrated and tired.
That's how you know you're getting old...you get hungover without any alcohol.

Acronym Attack
Had a brilliant conversation with Neko. It made my afternoon, it did!
Neko: haha, convo between me and my coworker
Neko's Coworker (NC): btw, do you know that the word laser is actually an acronym?
Neko: yup
NC: XD
Neko: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
but to say that..my Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation pointer.
NC: nah doesn't sound as cool
Neko: my Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation ray gun.
Neko: i shoot Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation out of my eyes
hahahaha
NC: look! The cat is playing with the Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
Neko shares that with me, and of course, we then get our geek on.
Ki: i knew it was an acronym, but i never remember the full thing. It's like SCUBA
what is that, self contained....underwater breathing apparatus. That sounds about right.
Neko: yeah, it's right
i'm gonna go self-contained underwater breathing apparatus diving today
Ki: Will your Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation pointer work underwater?
Neko: XD i was just gonna say that i'm gonna bring that
Ki: well, as long as you stay on the RAdio Detection And Ranging, you should be fine.
Neko: if not, i'm sure you can find me by SOund Navigation And Ranging device
Neko: now i want to find more acronyms to play with except, eh, too much work
Ki: i find myself geekily turned on by this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recursive_acronym
i stopped playing because i got lost in WikiWorld.
Neko: ... hahahaha, omg, acronyms referring to itself
Ki: i know, i LOVE it

Holiday Planning!
I've used up all my annual leave for this year, what with my summer holiday and my upcoming Christmas leave, and my random days off, so the next holiday has to be next year.
And Neko and I are planning to holiday together! We've decided on the where and the when. All that remains is to sort out the silly bits, like flights and whatnot.
Neko has come here for a weekend, I've gone there for a weekend...now we're finally going to holiday together!
Just me and my wifey. It'll be like our honeymoon or something.

Quiet Celebration
This time last year, I thought that I'd want to do something big for my 30th. A huge party perhaps, or a day out; something wild, something crazy.
This year, by the time my birthday rolled round, I'd completely changed my mind. After all, I'd already done the trip to London for my birthday treat! And I still have Jaffa cakes and rolos and Galaxy bars to feast on...among other goodies.
Decided on going to Overeasy for dinner with Bar Boozer. I made it just in time for happy hour, wahey! Was rather disappointed though, that rum wasn't included in the happy hour drinks. Nor was Red Bull, so I couldn't have my usual Rum&Coke, nor my substitute poison, Vodka RBs. My other choices? Gin or bourbon. Seeing as how gin is even grosser than bourbon, I settled for a bourbon whiskey. Had two of those, afterwhich I switched up to rum. Best Roman Coke ever!
Was a decent dinner, they do good burgers. But the service wasn't exactly the best! Since it was rather noisy, we decided to stroll across the bridge to the Esplanade, where we hung out at Harry's.
Decided to move on to SoCo 7-Ups, which I hadn't had in ages! Harry's was rather understaffed that day, but I'll give them this: they mix brilliant drinks! JUST the right ratios.
Shoes arrived not long after, and Tink joined us when she was done with work. And then....shots all round! Tequila...it makes me happy! Plus, Patrón tequila is good stuff!
So...alcohol consumption was...let's see if I remember this.
2 x bourbon whiskey
2 x rum & coke
3 (4?) x SoCo 7-Up
4 x tequila
1/2 x Guinness
Few sips of some very good single malt.
A decent amount for a 30 year old, especially one who was on the tail end of jetlag, hadn't been sleeping well, and had been in the office since 7.30am. Not too bad at all!
I was PLENTY buzzed, I can tell you that! Of course, after having the requisite prata and teh tarik supper, I was sobered up, but feeling oh-so-happy after spending a wonderful evening with 3 of my best mates.
And then I come home, and I see this waiting for me:
Flowers also make me happy. (Mum told me they'd arrived just after I left for dinner!)
Another thing that makes me happy? Starting the alcohol headache before I sleep, which means minimal hangover! Plus, as a wise old woman of 30, I now know enough to stick to either dark or light alcohol, drink lots of water, and to keep a bottle of water next to me. Woke up feeling tired, but no headache!
And then dinner today at Sis2's place. Weekend of friends and family. As close to perfection as it gets.

London Itinerary
My itinerary is filling up fast! I've scheduled a few things that are must-sees for me, and certain things are only on particular days and times. Plus, there are the things that I've made reservations for.
Yve and I have made reservations for afternoon tea at The Wolseley, so that's been blocked out on my schedule.
I've booked tickets to see Les Misérables, and I've been looking forward to that. Have wanted to see it for ages, and I'm finally going!
Neko shoots me a text today, to ask if I like musicals, and if I would watch Wicked. Turns out, she wanted to buy me a ticket for an early birthday present. Bless her heart, she bought me both the ticket AND dinner!
This is shaping up to be a brilliant holiday, and I'm not even packed!
3 sleeps to go before I fly, and I'm going now to cut that number down to 2.
Goodnight!

Timbre Rock & Roots
Day 2
Oh my goodness. Yesterday's performances were, in a word, AWESOME.
I got there just before Imogen Heap was up, and boy oh boy, am I ever glad I was there before she started! From the minute she stepped on stage, I was smitten. I loved her music ever since I first discovered it a couple years ago. She's gorgeous, she's funny and quirky and rather eccentric, she's full of fun and her voice...omg, her voice. I've developed such a crush!
Trombone Shorty was up next. I'd never heard of him or his music, and I was wowed! I'll tell you, it brought back a few memories. Being a former band geek who once dated another band geek (who played trombone!), I've always loved the sounds of the trombone. I've never quite heard it being played like this, and omgomgomg, he held a single, pure note for more than two minutes. I've known of circular breathing for years, but I'd never actually seen anyone do it, and I. Was. Wowed. So in awe!
John Legend closed up the night. That man has a lovely, lovely voice, but I daresay his performance could have been a little better. The man comes on stage, starts singing....and not a sound came out! The mic wasn't on! And he was singing one of Adele's as well. What a shame! The whatchamacallit, sound mixing? left quite a bit to be desired. The music was so loud that his voice was drowned out. Finally, when it was just the piano and his voice, did I truly appreciate how lovely his voice really is.
It was a fantastic weekend of music, and I enjoyed myself tremendously.
Met MyEvilTwin and her friends, and we went up to Ku De Ta. The view of my city from up there was breathtaking. The almost-full moon, the lights of the city below...I rediscovered a new love for this wonderful city I call home.
Danny Tenaglia was spinning at Zouk for their 20th anniversary as well, and I would have loved to go. I love me some Tenaglia, I love zouk, and quite a few of the old crew were there! And actually, I very nearly did go, especially since MyEvilTwin was there and I love clubbing with her. But sense kicked in, and I decided to head home for a couple hours sleep before class today. Shame about missing Tenaglia, but that's what comes with being a semi-responsible pseudo-adult!
I barely slept all weekend, my feet are swollen and hurting, my legs and back are aching and I'm feeling oh so knackered.
All signs of an awesome weekend. And it's not even over yet.

The Cruellest Month
So begins the second quarter of the year. I didn't play any April Fools' pranks on anyone, nor did I have any played on me. And if any pranks had been played, I haven't figured it out yet.
The past three months have been...interesting, to say the least. I've reconnected with a couple of old friends, which is always great. Things have been happening in the lives of my friends, which have caused ripples in mine.
The good news first:
One of my girls gave birth to a wee lil' fella on the first of March. Another Rabbit boy in my life! He's simply gorgeous, I'm so happy for my girl, and I'm so looking forward to seeing the lil' fella grow up.
My sister's best friend gave birth at the beginning of the week, to a yet another gorgeous Rabbit boy! Entering the world at 3.925kg (that's 8.65 pounds, y'all!), he's a right whopper! What makes that amazing is that mother is TINY.
Plans for summer holiday are underway, and that's another thing that I'm really looking forward to. I can't wait to embrace my inner geek with the geeky side of touristing. I don't want to talk too much about it, because I'm afraid of jinxing it, but I'm really REALLY looking forward to the summer!
Alright, on to the bad.
One of my close friends was recently in a relationship wreck, and is now clawing her way out of the rubble. Knowing what's happened has made me so very angry and indignant; frankly I'm also quite disgusted. The strongest emotion though, is just of sorrow. I doubt she'll read this anytime soon, but when and if you do sweeties, you know I'll help in whatever way I can and know how to.
Her sorrows have dredged up a few memories about someone in my past; something similar happened to me, and I'm drawing on my own experiences to try to understand at least a fraction of what she's going through.
Two things I've realised as a result - one, that I'm no longer angry with TW. Somehow, when I wasn't looking, I just let go. I don't miss him any more, and now I'm genuinely happy for him and his current partner, and I truly want him to be happy. And two, that despite all the heartbreaks I see around me, I still have faith. I still believe in relationships, in the institution of marriage; I believe in love, that it conquers all.
I believe that everything will work out, and that one day, she too will have come out of her experiences scarred, but stronger and happier.
Enough with the angst! Let's move on to...the neutral news.
Nan's moved in with us for a while. That will take some getting used to, for all of us. I am, however, feeling the frustrations of the lack of space, and am seriously considering moving to my best mate's parents' flat, which is just down the road from mine. After all, best mate has moved out, and her old room is sitting empty! I've spoken to best mate, and she's cool with that. All I gotta do is ask her mother. I'm hoping she'll say yes.
It's not so much the personal space that I'm concerned about; I've learnt to sequester myself in the corners of my house, and surround myself with a bubble of peace (i.e. my earphones block out the family noise). It's mostly because I'll need a place to study and do my assignments, and right now, the Madhouse is just too mad for me to get any proper work done.
Which brings me to the next thing on my agenda: My baby bro's been enlisted for his National Service! He enters the army first week of May. It seems really weird to think of my baby bro (fine, he might be 21 - 22 in September - but he'll always be my baby bro, ok?!) in the army. So once he's gone, I'm going to commandeer his room, which has a great study area. He's a sweetheart though; he saw me doing my work in the family room, and he knows it's tough to study in the Madhouse, so he told me to use his desk any time I need to.
Studying/doing assignments is tough when you're working full-time though. Plus, I still work on Saturdays. The good thing is that my colleague and I worked out a deal, where instead of both of us coming in every Saturday for four hours, we'll come in on alternate Saturdays for eight. It's a drag, working a full day on Saturday, but it works out better for both of us. It saves on transport, plus we at least get an full weekend every fortnight. It also means that I'll actually be able to go out late on (alternate) Fridays! I might just start hitting the clubs again!
...
Wow, that was a long ramble from me! I think I'm just not fully awake yet, hence the rambling. Which reminds me...I still haven't had my coffee!
I'm going to rectify that now.

Friday Fun
I did my hair not too long ago, but I went back yesterday to get it coloured. I knew I needed a bit of a trim, and Bianca suggested cutting it a bit shorter than usual.
I LOVE the colour! A slightly different shade to what I did the last time, and I love it. Also, I sometimes have a sideswept or parted fringe, but more often than not, it's all just pushed up and clipped back. This time, I asked her to to blow-dry my fringe straight, just to see what it looks and feels like. It looked fantastic when I walked out....but after a while, I kinda just pushed it out of the way. It's confirmed - I don't like my hair falling into my eyes. I can't do a short fringe though, because it curls, and then looks awful. As it is, my fringe now is really curled up, especially since I didn't have time to do anything with it this morning.
I'm going back in a couple of weeks to get it done for Christmas.
Bella was right; I really do need to watch the 'rockumentary' It "focuses on African American women's hair, including the styling industry surrounding it, the acceptable look of African American women's hair in society, and the effects of both upon African American culture" (from the Wiki page), but she said there's a lot in it I'd agree with. For one thing...spending LOADS of money on hair. I complain about being broke all the time, but I spend about a thousand bucks a year on my hair. It's paying off though; my hair is looking a lot better, it's healthier, and most importantly, I like it.
Alright then, enough blather about my hair.
~|~|~|~
Met up with Bella after that, and as always, it's lovely to hang out with her. It's funny how we became friends; I'm convinced that if she hadn't been living just down the street from me back in secondary school, such that her place became my second home, we wouldn't have become so close. Superficially, we have nothing in common; our tastes in music and literature differ greatly. She works in the arts industry; I work in administration. She's a great people person; I generally avoid hanging out in groups. And the list goes on.
But go a little deeper...and well, we've been through so much together. She's been there through each and every time I got my heart broken; she knows of most of my embarrassing secrets. We've seen each other through our awkward teenage years, and we're stumbling through adulthood together. We have inside jokes that we still find hilarious. We can go ages without any contact, but when we meet again, it's like no time at all has passed. We don't see each other very often, but if either of us really need someone, it only takes a text.
In short, she's my 3a.m. friend. More importantly, she's my sister of the heart. And one can never have too many sisters.
Gosh, I'm rather mushy today. That's probably because I didn't get much sleep. Plus, I'm procrastinating at work. But enough of that. Time to get down to work again. On a flipping Saturday. Groan groan.
~|~|~|~
But hey, I have a birthday party to go to today! One of my second cousins is celebrating her 8th (and I feel awful; I can't remember when her birthday actually is!), and she's having a fairy-themed party. Looks like I gotta get out my wand and wings! Oh, and I have to figure out the password too. Kids these days, making it so difficult to get to the cake!
~|~|~|~
Not that I'm going to be having any cake...I'd be disappointed about it, if not for the fact that I'm now visibly slimmer than I was a couple weeks ago.
How much slimmer? Well, I haven't measured yet, but now I slip into my jeans easily. I can slouch about at home in my jeans, without having to unbutton them any more. Yes, yes, it was highly difficult and uncomfortable to slouch over in my jeans. But now! Now they feel fine. In fact, they're a little loose! I have to wear a belt for the first time in months! I took my belt off its hook yesterday, and dusted it off. Literally dusted it off.
I don't have my huge tummy bump any more. In other words, I no longer look like I'm preggers! Well, damn. There goes people giving up their seats on the train for me.
I screwed up a bit yesterday - I forgot to bring my dinner to work, so went from work to hair to Bella, and didn't get home til 2am. So yeah. Skipped dinner. NOT GOOD.
But I've learnt my lesson; won't let it happen again. I can't wait to fit into my skinny jeans again!
~|~|~|~
Speaking of jeans, I was well amused last night to discover that Bella had no idea you're supposed to turn jeans inside out with you wash them. For those of you who also didn't know that, well...turning jeans inside out when you wash them helps to maintain the colour and shape. Ok? Ok.
Also, you don't have to wash your jeans every single week. Unlike my dear OCD-inflicted friend, who seems to think that jeans get manky after only a week. Every single week. I'm still shaking my head.
~|~|~|~
Another bimbo moment from Bella that I simply have to mention. We were talking about weird things we've eaten (or will never eat), which stemmed from me mentioned that I didn't like stinky tofu. We all agreed that we'll never eat balut, although we have a sneaking suspicion that it's probably really good. And a great source of protein. Besides, we eat eggs. We eat chicken. Why not the in-between? But...no. Just no.
Bella asked her friend, who's travelled a fair bit, about what's the weirdest thing he's ever eaten. He said that it was 'whale semen'. To which Bella responded "How do you..I dunno...harvest? How do you get whale semen?" We all just stared at her for a moment, before she realised that the whale is killed first. Yes, she did for a few seconds think that whale semen is "harvested" by some form of jacking it off. Lots of hilarity ensued, of course, complete with arm movements. Watch out for the next dance craze: The Whale-Wank.

Note: I do have my thoughts and opinions on whaling, but there's a time and place for discussing them. Last night wasn't the time, this blog isn't the place. :)

But...no. Just no.

It's just getting better and better
Again, another uneventful day at work...but oh what a wonderful evening!
Started tutoring again; today was my first lesson. I was recommended by Jan; my new student's mum is her friend. Lovely woman, and beautiful children.
I'll be teaching Maths! As in...Mathematics! As in...numbers!
Now, before you start complaining to the authorities, never fear. She's in Primary 3. That? I can handle.
Student's place is right next to Sof's school (in fact, the girl is a student at Sof's school). How cool is that? I'll be able to see Sof every week, if we're both up for it!
I did manage to see Sof for a few minutes today, just before my lesson. I'd thought of having dinner with her after the lesson, but she's not feeling well. Touch of the flu...is that going around? Start dosing yourselves with zinc and Vit C!
Well, my first choice for dinner-partner was Sof, but since she wasn't up for it, I texted my next choice: SK.
Who just happened to be free for a couple hours!
He picked me up after class, and we went to Holland V for dinner. First time ever I ate at Foster's! I've walked past the restaurant dozens of times, and always thought that it looked really chilled out. Never got to check it out, until tonight. Good food! I had the oxtail stew, and it tasted like...it tasted like home. So much flavour to it, the meat was succulent and oh so juicy....*slurp*
Pretty good wine too! And the service? I have to give them an A for service. And I rarely ever award even a B for service, because I'm just an absolute stickler for good service. Here? Excellent service.
Will I go back? Absolutely!
It's just so strange, and yet so right, how comfortable I feel with SK. It's been a while since I just clicked with someone like that.
He insisted on paying for dinner, which was just so sweet of him. I asked him out; I was fully prepared to pay for the evening, but he wouldn't hear of it.
It's just a shame he had to meet with clients after, so we had to end our evening early-ish.
As Bunny said, it's been so long since I've been treated well, that it's just a wonderful feeling now. This floored me:
We ordered escargot - I love those little snails. I just can't stand seeing them in the shell, and these were served...in the shell! And bless him, he shelled them for me.
He picked me up after class, and didn't complain about having to wait (class ran over a bit, especially because I wanted to discuss a few things with student's mum).
He insisted on paying for dinner.
He couldn't send me home, and apologised for that. I didn't mind a bit; I didn't expect him to, and it's so sweet that he would have. (Did I mention that he sent me home in a cab last Saturday, even though it's out of his way, and he wouldn't accept any money from me? Well, if I didn't earlier, I have now!)
He walked me to the taxi stand, and waited until my taxi arrived.
He waited until the taxi pulled away, and he waved goodbye.
To some of you (read: Bunny), this is nothing special. To me? To me it's amazing. Is this what I've been missing for four years? Is this what I willingly sacrificed?
I felt special. More importantly, I felt respected. And it's been so long that I've gone out with a bloke who gives me that.
It's strange. I barely know him, and yet, he's become a friend.
Today I give thanks for my friends, old and new.
I've known Sof and Bunny for almost all my life (21 years!) and Tink and Teh Tarik for more than half of my life. They're my oldest friends (in years we've been friends, not age!) and they all give me so much in their own way. I've been acquainted with SK for a few weeks now, and have only started to get to know him, and he makes me happy. The Leprechaun...I've known him what...7? 8? years...and the bond between us has just gotten stronger over the years.
I am so grateful to have such beautiful people in my life, and I am honoured that they want me in theirs.
Happy moments of the day:
- hanging out with Sof, albeit for only a few minutes.
- starting to tutor again. My student, Kay, really enjoyed herself, and she's eager to learn. Granted, I hide my lessons behind fun and games, but she's so open and sociable, and her younger brothers are just darling.
- discovering that Kay's mum is really cool. True, she's Jan's friend, so how bad could she be? But it's always a relief to know that my student's parent trusts me with their child.
- Dinner at Foster's. Oxtail stew, mashed potatoes, broccoli and red wine. All things I love.
- Hanging out with SK and talking about...everything and nothing all at once.
- realising that I was treated with respect, feeling my own self-respect go up, realising that I deserve to be treated as such.
- listening to love songs on Class 95 on my way home.
- coming home, to a welcome and a kiss from Calis.
I'm still so in love with life. And now, perhaps for the first time in my life, I'm starting to fall in love with me.
Because I'm worthy of being loved.

Friiiiidaaaay!!!!
And what a glorious Friday it has been, too!
I cannot turn on my old laptop at all. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? To get my files out. Please don't suggest throwing it out; I've already thought of that. I need to get my files out somehow.
BUT. I have a new toy! The Sony Vaio CS316! In red! Isn't she pretty?!?
No, I'm not using her just yet, because I don't have the password for the wireless internet just yet, and I'm not going to bug the Dadman for it. He just said he'll get it for me tomorrow, so it's all good.
I was at the store, and I was looking at the display pieces. I couldn't decide between the sweet pink one and the "noble brown" one. The brown one would have matched my camera, but the pink one was oh so sweet.
The lovely (and rather cute) staff who was assisting me said he'll check if the red is in stock. Meanwhile, I'm still standing there feeling torn between the pink and brown. He comes back, saying "OMG we like TOTALLY have the red in stock! And I'll show it to ya mmmkay?"
Well...ok, maybe not quite in those words.
So he brings out a box, and pulls out a laptop...and...and...
Love at first sight.
Plus, I got the carry case (also red!) and a bluetooth mouse (red!) and a 4gig thumbdrive (not red.) thrown in as well! Oh, and an upgrade to 4gb ram! For free!
*sighs happily*
Helped that salesguy was kinda cute too. I know his name, and I know where he works. *crafty smile*
As if I hadn't spent enough money, I then proceeded to complete one item on my list.
66. Buy a diamond ring for myself.
It's pretty. I like it. Even TehTarik knew immediately, when she looked at a few rings I'd picked out, that this was the one I'd decided on. It had, according to her, my name written all over it!
Today I give thanks for:
The person who invented cup noodles.
Yes, sounds like a lame thing to be thankful for, but cup noodles have saved me from going hungry many many times.
Happy moments of the day:
- chocolate chip cookies. I had quite a few today. Nom nom nom!
- laughing with my colleague
- shopping with TehTarik
- getting a nice pretty LBD
- setting my eyes on Red, and falling in love. TehTarik saw my reaction and knew immediately that I'd lost my heart to it
- completing #66 on my list.
--
Tomorrow, I work in the morning. Get a manicure after work. And go for my colleague's son's wedding dinner in the evening.
Life, my friends, might be what happens when you're busy making other plans...
but every day, in every way, it's getting better and better.

Will you get me a Macbook if I say please?
Was going to blog last night, but my laptop is giving up the ghost. Perhaps now I can has me a Macbook? Doof's my personal tech support guy, and I'm depending on him to come up with recommendations.
If only he'll stop suggesting Dell.
Anyway, yesterday was a great day. Met up with Sof at Holland V, where we ate at Mykii. We decided that we give them a C for the main courses, but an A for the tea and desserts.
Had a great time with Sof, as always. And we proved yet again that we can work together really well, what with bouncing ideas off each other, and both of us able to envision what the other's idea is.
Did that make any sense? Don't worry if it didn't. Sof and I don't make much sense when we get together.
Happy moments of yesterday:
- seeing Sof again
- the tea at Mykii! Plus, the name for it is "First Kiss"
- the desserts at Mykii! We had the apple crumble and the trifle. I would also highly HIGHLY recommend the creme brulee
- coming up with ideas for Sof's school play
- talking and joking with the two blokes sitting next to us at Tango's
- realising that I still have the ability and confidence to strike up conversations with perfect strangers
- talking to Doof before bed

Closing a lovely weekend
Watched Bedtime Stories with my bro and younger sis today. Not one of Adam Sandler's best, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And as in all Adam Sandler's films, I enjoyed the cameos.
Bought a new pair of sunglasses, for only $19.90! I quite like them too.
Met up with Tink and TehTarik in the evening, and went to JP. My gosh, that place is always packed! Ended up having sushi for dinner, as it was away from the mall and hence, not crowded.
Happy moments of the day:
- Singing Give Thanks in church; that's always been one of my favourite hymns. I'm still humming it!
- Laughing with TehTarik and Tink in that cute stationery shop at JP
- Giving Tink her Christmas gift, and seeing her face light up
- Coming home to find that the baby nephew was here
- Just being with family
Today's thanksgiving:
For the past few days, I've been thankful for Mum, Dad and BabyGirl. Today, I give thanks for my family. They've always been there for me, and each individual is beautiful in their own way.
A new work week starts tomorrow. I have my yellow dress all ironed and ready to wear.
Must wake up early, because the bro starts school, and I don't want to have to fight for the bathroom in the morning.
Oh, saw a diamond ring at Soo Kee that I really really liked, and it was the last day of their sale. I admit that I was tempted to get it, thus fulfilling #66 on my list. But reason kicked in and I decided that I definitely do not want to be totally broke for the rest of the month, so wisely walked away. I did get me those sunglasses, so I'm happy!
Right then. Time to get ready for bed. Chances are that I won't actually go to sleep for a while yet, but hey, hope springs eternal!

3 Days In
Wow, it felt good waking up late today! And not having to go to work.
Met up with TehTarik at West Mall for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as crowded as I'd thought it would be. Ended up buying stuff at Watsons. TehTarik and I agreed that even if you don't need anything, you can walk into Watsons, and find something that you do need/want. The good thing about spending money at Watsons is knowing that you're not wasting money - that is, if you're getting toiletries, and not some of the rubbish that they do have. After all, things like toothpaste and cotton pads do get used! Unlike shoes..*eyes shoe cupboard guiltily*
Found this little booth at West Mall that sells OPI nail polish for far cheaper than nail salons do! Of course, we ended up getting a bottle each. And went to her place and painted our nails.
Did you know that Pastamania does delivery? I didn't, but I do now!
*burp*
Semi-watched a couple of movies: The Darjeeling Limited on dvd, and another one that I can't quite recall right now.
I did say I only semi-watched it.
Finished watching the movie just in time to catch Whose Line Is It Anyway? and as always, it was a great laugh. I love the rapport between Colin and Ryan.
Gotta admit, I don't quite find female comedians as amusing...
Left her place shortly after to meet up with Yvonne. Hadn't seen her in ages, and it was good catching up again. She's another person whom I admire a lot, for her positive outlook on life.
Happy moments of the day:
Joking with my mum and BabyGirl before leaving to meet TehTarik
Finding a really nice OPI nail colour
Cuddling BabyGirl and tucking her in, and getting a kiss
Watching Whose Line
Hanging out with TehTarik and Yvonne
Today's Thanksgiving:
I am thankful for my sister, who is the epitome of courage and optimism and determination.
Just heard this song on the radio, and this line always stands out for me:
You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself
Only three days in, and I'm having a great year so far. I feel the same way Bunny does, so I'm going to quote her here:
"All in all, 2009 has been great so far. Sure it's only the beginning, but I think it's an indication of how things are going to be for the rest of the year. And you know what? I like it. "

I like it. "
