Nerdery is expensive

Misstsy FB-posted a link to the Harry Potter Moleskine® collection (meant for P, but I was tagged in the post). I saw it, and I wanted it. P said that she'd seen it at the NBC store over at Bugis, and offered to pick one up for me, with a 10% discount. I decided to go to the store at Jem, as I wanted to see the physical thing first, to see if it really was as pretty as it looked in the picture.

It wasn't.

It was better.

I picked up my 2017 planner from Muji, then went to NBC. No copies there, so I meandered over to Kinokuniya. Went straight over to the Moleskines, saw the one I liked, and stood in front of it, dithering for ages. I mean, HP journal! Expecto Patronum! But but....$41 for a notebook!!!

I finally decided to get it. Picked one up, turned around, and....

Oh. Oh my.

MUCH HARRY POTTER. SO GEEK.

Pure magic.

Cue even more dithering. And then of course, I allowed myself to get tempted by useless little keyrings.

cute, but nah

Of course, I started texting Nekowife and P for help. Partly help in deciding which notebook to get, but mostly it was a cry for help to stop spending monies!
P told me not to waste money. But, as I told her (and later, Nekowife), I'd also planned to get my nails done today. But purdy HP notebooks > purdy nails, and they'll last longer too.

Ended up getting these two beauties.

'Course though, they're going to sit there for absolute ages before I even get around to opening them, let alone writing in them!

And then, of course...as though I hadn't already spent enough on notebooks... I picked up a new MacBook Pro. On which I am now typing.

Harry Potter notebooks? $75.
MacBook Pro? $2000.

Nerd satisfaction? Priceless.

Of course, seeing as how this week, Starbucks is doing a BOGO on their Xmas drinks... I went along to pick up my second toffee nut latte of the year, and got a peppermint mocha frappe for BabyGirl.

I'm broke, but I'm happy. :)

Also, wife wife look! I wrotes something! I have some other stuff that I wanted to blog about, but hey. Might as well keep something for tomorrow, eh?

Mouthwatering Monday

Today started out pretty bleh. Wasn't too keen on getting out of bed, and had a tough time kickstarting myself, but I had the prospect of new episodes of QI and Walking Dead, and like I mentioned earlier today,  cheesecake brownies!

I made brownies for Shoes and family last week; I used my favourite brownie recipe, but added chopped walnuts. I'm sure Shoes wished I'd put more walnuts in. Thing is, I have a slight allergy to nuts, and I'm not fond of nuts in my brownies (hur hur), so I rarely use nuts in my cooking.

But yes, favourite brownie recipe, in my favourite brownie pan!

my Baker's Edge® All-Edge Brownie Pan

But remember, dear readers, do NOT lick the bowl and/or spatula. There are raw eggs in there!

Hello, delicious Salmonellosis!

Decided to whip up another batch of brownies today (with no nuts!), since I had all the ingredients, but this time, I added a layer of cream cheese and blueberries.

The batter was so yummy that I was tempted to eat it raw. It's a good thing Mum was in the kitchen; I might have started digging in otherwise!

fresh blueberries = healthy dessert!

Managed to resist eating the batter, and popped the pan into the oven. Half an hour later, voila!

too hot to eat, urgh

I decided that a burnt mouth wouldn't be very pleasant, so decided to be patient. The wait was well worth it! Of course, I had to be disciplined! One piece for the Mother Goddess, one for the Dadman, one for Nanny, one for Babygirl, one for Di....two for me. But I'm not eating any more tonight! Going to give some to Sis2 and her clan; gotta share the calories!

This is what discipline looks like

Tous Pour Un, Un Pour Tous

Went to Jurong Point today after work to pick up a few things. As always, I ended up buying things that weren't on my list! It wasn't my fault though. I didn't know that The Cocoa Trees just opened an outlet in Jurong Point! It's not my fault it was on my route to the supermarket!

I decided to just pop in and have a look. After all, Christmas is coming, and I want to get stocking fillers for the kids (as well as the grown-up kids!) I'd walked almost an entire round of the shop, didn't pick up a single thing to purchase.

That's when I saw it.

The shelf of 3 Musketeers bars! Screw the diet, hang the cough, I said! I'm getting me some nommies! In my defense, the last time I had a 3 Musketeers bar was back in March of Oh-Nine! They had Milky Ways too, and believe me, I was tempted to get both! But as it is, it only comes in packs of 6, so I decided not to get a dozen candy bars. See? That's discipline, right there!

More chocolatey than these three

They were having a promotion, like I mentioned - 50% off any second item (equal or lower-priced, of course). I did consider getting the Milky ways, but that would have been a bit much, even for me. Seeing as how I still have two boxes of Jaffa Cakes left.

I did get me a bag of Quality Streets though. What, I'm not THAT disciplined!

Now in a brave show of discipline (using up whatever last vestiges of willpower I possess), I'm not going to watch this week's QI. Nope, I'm powering down, showering up, and turning in.

Discipline!
