Writer's Block: Another country

Do you have good friends from other countries that you've met on LiveJournal? Do you think you'll ever meet them in person?

Do I have good friends? Do I ever!

First up, there's Vix...I met her through comments on a mutual friend's LJ. (The mutual friend being P.) We started chatting through comments, then friended each other...and the rest, as they say...

I love her to death, she's one of my closest friends, and she's been there for me more times that I can remember. Do I think I'll ever meet her? I already have! Met her once in Wisconsin, back in...January '06. I was there on vacation, she was living there. Then again in....'07? when she came to Singapore for a few days. Hopefully she'll be coming to Singapore again, so we can go to the MIKA concert together...and I'm long overdue for a visit to Taiwan where she currently resides...it IS my turn to travel to her!


Then there's the now non-LJ user Kriskris. Yet another person I've come to love. We met in the HP fandom - she needed a beta, I was a beta...it was kismet. We don't contact each other as much as we used to, or as much as we'd like - RL does tend to get in the way...but we do touch base now and again. Do I think I'll meet her? Absolutely. She's pretty much the main reason I'm putting Canada on my travel list.

Last, but not least, there's Lo. We, too, met because of the HP fandom. We're not especially close, but she's definitely someone I care about. I'm not sure why, but she triggers my protective instincts! We don't chat as much as we used to - partly because neither of us are active in the HP fandom these days, and partly because of those two dreaded letters: R and L.

I'd also love to meet IIBNF someday. Australia isn't that far away from Singapore, and I might just pop around someday, just to see if she's just as weird and wonderful as I imagine. And if I can't stand her...hey, at least she'll be able to recommend food places. ;)

It's a shame - I did become quite attached to a few people, but I kinda lost touch with them now...perhaps I'll drop them a note just to say hi.

I hardly post to LJ these days; when I do blog, it's to P2U. But that doesn't mean I don't keep track of what's going on in LJ-world. I am so grateful for the people I've met. LJ is full of freaks and geeks...and I love the ones that hang out in my little corner of LJland. And the ones who don't, but whom I stalk anyway.

No exaggeration here: the residents of LJ have saved my life more than once. Literally. And I don't have the words to express how very grateful I am.


Oh, back to the Writer's Block question. In short: Yes, and yes.
