-- Twoflower, The Light Fantastic
Ignoring the glaringly obvious grammatical errors in the above quote, I actually really like the sentiment behind it. It's quite true, isn't it? I've only been away for five days, but it did feel like a long time. I had an idyllic getaway, but today I returned to real life. Where I received the warmest welcome ever from one of my favourite people in the world.
Had a pretty unproductive day today. First of all, I was rather tired. Having only three hours of sleep before dragging myself out of bed will do that to me! Then there was the fact that said out-of-bed-dragging occurred on a very wet morning. I'm actually glad that it was raining though; it was dreadful stepping out of the airport into the blast of heat and humidity that is Singapore, after the cool breezes in Taipei.
I spent most of the day trying to catch up with what's been going on, and updating logs. Other than the fact that I'm clearly behind on the workload now, it felt like I'd never been away from the office. I decided not to stay late today though. Scarpered off at 4.30 to catch the bus home. Strange how I'm not feeling quite as sleepy now that I'm home.
I haven't even unpacked yet, though. I really should, but...well, despite not feeling sleepy, I am rather knackered. And pretty unmotivated to boot.
Shoes mentioned today, after catching up on my past few posts, that she much prefers my thoughts, to my diary-type writing. To be honest, so do I. But really, journalling my daily activities is one of two ways to remember what I did over the weekend. The other way to remember is to ask Neko, of course.
But yeah, back to what Shoes said...I actually do have quite a few thoughts that I'd like to pen down. In the meantime, I'm just really glad to be back. As much as I had a brilliant time hanging out with Neko...well, to quote another literary character... "There's no place like home".
And so ends Day 9.
